The General Directorate of Lebanese General Security confirmed that no incident was recorded with any Syrian citizen who returned to his country under the auspices of Public Security and under the supervision of the United Nations agencies operating in Lebanon.
The directorate said in a statement today: “All return trips for Syrian citizens that the directorate has organized during the past years have not looked like a flaw,” reiterating that the powers entrusted to it at the border crossings are limited to sealing travel documents that are in the possession of transients after verifying them and completing the judicial procedures, and it is not important. Its soldiers search vehicles or people.
She pointed out that these tasks fall within the powers of the competent authorities at the crossings.
Earlier today, the Syrian embassy in Beirut denied the baseless allegations circulated by some social networking sites about the disappearance of what it called "Syrian activists" who entered the embassy and did not leave it.
