Next Thursday, September 2, will be crucial for Panama.

That day the country has its first massive activity after almost a year and a half of not allowing them due to the covid-19 pandemic.

The eyes of the health authorities are on the celebration of the game between the soccer teams of Panama and Costa Rica, as part of the qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Those who enter the Rommel Fernández Stadium in the Panamanian capital, where the meeting will be held, must be vaccinated with their two doses against the coronavirus, Miguel Zúñiga, general secretary of the Panamanian Football Federation (Fepafut), told CNN.

The Ministry of Health reported this Friday that it recommended that the federation divide the stadium into three sections: one with a capacity of 80% for vaccinated people;

another 30% for those not vaccinated;

and an additional one for visitors.

However, he clarified that the final decision will be made by Fepafut so that only vaccinated people and visitors enter in accordance with the rules established to enter the country.

The secretary of the Panamanian Football Federation explained that with the decision that only people immunized against the coronavirus enter, it is intended that more people enter the stadium, taking advantage of the 80% capacity.

The Rommel Fernández stadium, he said, has a capacity for 30,000 people and that would allow 21,000 to enter, of which, he says, about 10,000 tickets have already been sold.
