Israeli swimmer Ami Dadown won a silver medal today (Saturday) at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo in the individual medley 150 meters, finishing second in the final with a time of 2: 29.48 minutes.
This is Israel's third medal in the Paralympic Games after the gold medals of Iyad Shelby and Mark Mellier, and the first medal in Dadon's career, who finished first in the first place with a time of 2: 33.92 minutes.
The Russian Zdenov, who broke a world record, finished in first place and won a gold medal.
The 21-year-old Dadon was born with cerebral palsy, and he trains at the ILAN Haifa Sports Club. In 2011, he began his swimming career with the Israel national reserve team, and in 2016 he was promoted to the senior team.
In 2018 he was crowned European Champion after winning a gold medal at the European Championships in Dublin, Ireland in the 100 freestyle and 150 medley and a silver medal in the 50 breaststroke and 200 freestyle.
In the 2019 Paralympic World Swimming Championships in London, he achieved the criterion for Tokyo 2020 when he won the silver medal and broke the Israeli record.
In the 200-meter row, he finished third, and won a bronze medal.
In May 2021 he set a new world record and won the European Championship in Portugal, and at the World Championships in Germany he set a new world record.
