Tomorrow, in the old city of Aleppo, Khan al-Harir and al-Saqatiyah markets and Pistachio Square will open as part of the City Nights event organized by the Aleppo Governorate and the Syrian Trust for Development after completing its rehabilitation as a result of the damage and destruction caused by terrorism.
Engineer Faris Al-Shihabi, director of the old city of Aleppo, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the reopening of the old markets reflects the insistence on the return of life to these markets, as they represent the arteries of the old city, starting from the Antioch Gate in the west and ending with the Citadel of Aleppo, and thus the return of commercial traffic and economic activity to the old Aleppo.
Al-Shihabi stressed that all the parties supporting the reconstruction of the old city, including the Ministry of Culture, the Governorate, the Syrian Trust for Development, the Aga Khan Foundation for Culture, the Aleppo City Council and NGOs, are working hard to restore the brilliance of the old Aleppo markets and provide facilities for the return of shop owners and contribute to its restoration and launch again.
