The wife of the Greek Ambassador to Brazil Kyriakos Amiridis, whom she had murdered in 2016 by her lover, a police officer who confessed to the crime, was sentenced to 31 years in prison and the latter to 22 years in prison , we announced this Sunday from a judicial source.

Kyriakos Amidis, 59 years old at the time of his assassination, was living in Brasilia and spending his Christmas holidays in Rio de Janeiro with his wife Françoise de Souza Oliveira and her daughter, when his disappearance was reported. Days after Christmas, the charred remains of the diplomat were discovered in a charred rental car under a bridge in Nova Iguaçu, near the state capital.

The investigation, which was based on numerous clues, including blood on a sofa and images from surveillance cameras, had resulted in the indictment of Sérgio Gomes Moreira Filho, police officer and lover of Françoise de Souza Oliveira.
