Kempten - The citizens' project “Hortus Natura” (www.hortus-natura.de) has been running in Sankt Mang on Linggener Straße since mid-July.
Click here for part 2 of the series.
The work, in which machines such as excavators and wheel loaders were used, has largely been done, the terrain has been modeled, connections between the tree spaces have been created, in some places it has already been sown.
Now comes the design part, stones, woods and then the plantings.
“As voluntary helpers: inside we go through many processes”, said one of those involved, “the heavy rain literally left us standing in the mud, nothing worked anymore, then the sun burned our heads.
We move in a constant field of tension between frustration and pleasure. "
And yet: What drives the participants again and again?
“It is the question of how we want to live in the future and what influence I as an individual have on it.
It is a way out of the resigned wait, the powerlessness, as an individual I can't change anything, to carry on as before due to a lack of alternatives.
Here I can experience myself as self-effective and in new roles, my creativity is in demand, I experience community with people who have completely different skills than me and with whom I can create the new together.
I'm a contributing part to the big, whole.
It's a good feeling and I feel very deeply that our actions make sense, that's why I'm there. "
