The Ministry of Justice has completed the rehabilitation of most court buildings and judicial complexes that have been subjected to vandalism and destruction as a result of terrorism, and is working to implement projects for new judicial complex buildings and the creation of new courts in the governorates.

On the details of the distribution of work, the Director of the Engineering Office in the Ministry of Justice, Engineer Abdul Karim Fayyad, explained in a statement to SANA’s delegate that the ministry is completing the work of the rehabilitation project of the second floor in the Judicial Palace building in Damascus and implementing the citizen service center project in the building, which will be put into service during the current year, in addition to creating a clerk department In the one window building in the Syrian Investment Authority building in Damascus, which actually started its work and allocating the notary clerk’s department in each justice or governorate in order to organize the agencies for investors and duly ratify them.

Regarding the judicial complexes and courts in the countryside of Damascus, Fayyad indicated that work returned to most of the courts in the countryside of Damascus after the completion of the restoration and rehabilitation operations that took place in coordination with the local councils and the efforts of the civil society.. According to the director of the engineering office, most courts in the liberated areas of Aleppo were rehabilitated through coordination with local councils and popular contributions, at a cost of 25 million pounds for each court.

Fayyad pointed out that the Judicial Palace in Deir ez-Zor has been fully rehabilitated from the expense of the Reconstruction Committee in the Ministry of Local Administration at a cost of 268 million Syrian pounds, the rehabilitation of the judicial complex in al-Mayadin, in coordination with Deir ez-Zor governorate, and the provision of an alternative headquarters for the judicial complex in Al-Bukamal until the rehabilitation of the building of the former complex, which a technical study was prepared for its rehabilitation. At a cost of about 80 million Syrian pounds, the implementation of the maintenance of the building of the Adoption Court and the preparation of a new building for the Ashara Magistrate’s Court after the old one was completely vandalized.

Fayyad confirmed the completion of the rehabilitation work of the Judicial Complex building in Al Haffa in the Lattakia countryside and the return of the courts to start work at the beginning of this year at a cost of 200 million Syrian pounds from the account of the Reconstruction Committee in the Ministry of Local Administration and the completion of the rehabilitation of the Judicial Palace building in Homs Al-Waer neighborhood after completing the rehabilitation of the judicial complexes in Rastan and Talkalakh And the Talbiseh and Taldo courts, and securing the headquarters for the “Al-Raqqamah and Al-Qarfals” courts, referring to the preparation of a technical study to rehabilitate the Judicial Complex in Palmyra at a cost of 200 million pounds.

In Daraa, studies were prepared, according to Fayyad, to rehabilitate the old justice palace at a cost of 300 million pounds and to strengthen the new building of the justice palace at a cost of 140 million, after reactivating the work of the courts in Jassim, Al-Harak, Khirbet Ghazala, Al-Musaifra and Dael, and creating civil appeals courts and misdemeanors in Al-Sanamayn, Izraa and Nawa, and creating a judicial complex In Bosra Sham.

In Hama, the out-of-service courts begin their work in the Judicial Palace in Hama and in other courts, where the Kafr Zita courts begin their work in the Judicial Complex in Mahrada, the Uqayribat and Al-Sabourah Courts in the Judicial Complex in Salamiyah, and Qalaat al-Madiq in the Judicial Complex in Suqaylabiyah.

In Idlib, Fayyad pointed to securing a headquarters, and the Sinjar and Abu al-Duhur courts began work in it, and after the liberation of the city of Khan Sheikhoun, the headquarters of the Khan Sheikhoun Court and the Idlib Temporary Justice in Khan Sheikhoun are being prepared, in coordination with Idlib Governorate, pointing to the preparation of a technical study in coordination with the technical services in Idlib to rehabilitate the Judicial Complex building in Maarat al-Numan, at a cost of 235 million pounds.

Regarding the investment projects for the current year, Fayyad drew attention to the completion of the works of the structure of the judicial palace in As-Suwayda and the project of the Judicial Complex building in the city of Salkhad, preparing a technical study and announcing for the second time a tender for the need to secure furniture and furnishings for the complex building to work on securing them and to invest the new building by Salkhad courts during this year. Regarding the newly established courts, Fayyad created a judicial complex in the industrial city of Adra and an appeals court in the cities of Qatana and Deir Atiyah. These courts began their work, in addition to establishing a Magistrate’s Court in Ain al-Nasr district in Homs and a magistrate’s court in Shatah district, Hama, and is currently preparing the necessary headquarters.

According to Fayyad, the restoration and rehabilitation operations face many difficulties, the most important of which is the lack of raw materials for equipment and infrastructure due to the economic siege imposed on Syria, in addition to the time taken by contracting procedures and the instability of prices, stressing that despite these difficulties, the pace of work, most of which was completed in record time, did not stop.
