In a ceremony held today (Sunday) in Kfar HaMaccabiah in the presence of President Yitzhak Herzog and with the participation of Minister of Culture and Sports Hili Trooper, Mayor of Ramat Gan Carmel Shama Hacohen, heads of the Maccabi World Movement and Olympic medalists, 100th anniversary events were opened today. At the ceremony, 100 years of medals were awarded to the global Maccabi movement to the leaders of the movement for generations and to the president of the country.
A panel was held to award the Torch of the Maccabiah, from the medalist Agnis Celtic (12 Olympic medals) who passed the torch to the medalist Yael Arad and Yael passed the torch towards the 21st Maccabiah to the 2 medalists Linoy Ashram and Avishag Samberg.

President Yitzhak Herzog noted at the ceremony: "100 years is not a matter of course, for any organization, and certainly for an educational, value-based, Zionist and Jewish movement as significant as Maccabi World."
