The Nature and Parks Authority received a report this morning (Sunday) from the army on a crocodile seen in the Yarmouk River, which forms the border between Israel and Jordan. The authority conducts inspections with the army to verify the information, as well as to obtain permission to cross the system fence to conduct a search in the area - since the fence is within Israeli territory, just before the river.
At the same time, an inspection is being carried out in front of the Hamat Gader site, which is surrounded by the Yarmuk, and there is a farm where about 70 crocodiles live. In the area where the crocodile was allegedly observed - the height differences of the site in front of the river are not significant.
At present, there is no danger to localities and kibbutzim in the Jordan Valley area, since the system fence will not allow the crocodile to cross into Israeli territory and in addition it is likely that the crocodile will prefer to stay in the water rather than walk a distance on land.
Meanwhile, if the army allows RTG personnel to cross the perimeter fence and scan for the crocodile in Yarmouk, it will most likely be done in the dark, so you can spot with a spotlight two glittering points that are the crocodile's eyes. In a tie wrapped around his neck.

Dozens of kilometers south of there, dozens of crocodiles escaped ten years ago from a crocodile farm in Petzal in the Jordan Valley, one of which managed to reach near the swimming pool of Moshav Yafit. All the crocodiles were captured and returned to the farm.
In the past, legends about a crocodile found in the Sea of Galilee were common and searches were conducted for the crocodile, but it turned out that these were false reports.
