Nuremberg - The people of Nuremberg * could soon get to Stein, Oberasbach and Zirndorf on an express route by bike.

The Federal Ministry of Transport * is funding the 14-kilometer cycle path project with 1.85 million euros.

Construction could begin in 2025, as

Nuremberg: "Plärrer" as a traffic junction

The "Plärrer" is to serve as the central traffic junction for the cycle expressway.

This is where the connection in Nuremberg * should begin.

From there, cyclists head west to cross the Main-Danube Canal to the connection junction Rothenburger Strasse / Schwabacher Strasse / Gebersdorfer Strasse.

Then it goes over a new bike path bridge through the Rednitz Valley and then over the former Bibertbahn route to the western end of the building in Leichendorf.

There the rapid cycle path connects to the national Biberttal cycle path.

The junction in a southerly direction to the city of Stein should also lead over the former railway line.

In Stein, the planned route ends at the confluence with the main road, where it connects to the urban cycle path network.

The traffic planning office reckons that up to 2000 cyclists could be out and about on the new connection every day. Overall, the office calculates costs of 2.47 million euros. 1.85 million come from the federal government.
