In the fight against the corona virus, Annalena Baerbock (Bündnis 90 / Die Grüne), Olaf Scholz (SPD) and Armin Laschet (CDU) cannot imagine any compulsory vaccination for certain professional groups. The three were asked about their ideas for corona policy at the first TV triall on RTL and n-tv. When asked whether compulsory vaccination should be introduced for certain professions, similar to that in France, the respondents answered "No". Laschet said he thought it was realistic that there would not be a new lockdown. Baerbock added "As of today" to her answer.
"
But that shouldn't be ruled out for the future."
The two chancellor candidates and the chancellor candidate also largely ruled out another lockdown at the present time.
"That is out of the question for me," replied Scholz, for example.
But normality like it used to be will not yet exist.
Precautions are still appropriate.
However, Baerbock accused her competitors of having done too little in the pandemic.
The federal and state governments have pursued a policy "that would rather wait and do nothing at all".
Especially with a view to protecting children in the fourth wave, too little is happening.
Laschet replied with a view to Baden-Württemberg's state chief Winfried Kretschmann that "there was also a Green party" at the Bund-Länder-Round.
No 2G for NRW
Laschet, Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia, also ruled out the 2G model - i.e. greater freedom only for genesis and vaccination - for his state.
That was "not an issue," said Laschet.
The model makes a distinction between vaccinated and convalescent on the one hand, and those tested on the other.
Hamburg is the first and so far only German federal state to have adopted the so-called "2G option model" for organizers, cultural establishments and restaurateurs.
Those who only let in vaccinated and recovered people get more freedom - those who have been tested, on the other hand, have no access.
Laschet rejected the allegation of a lurching course in the coronavirus pandemic.
He always tried to give a suitable answer to different infection events.
On the one hand, health protection is important, but there are also other factors such as classroom teaching in schools.
The trio on RTL and n-tv is the first major meeting of the three competing for the Chancellery.
The three are interviewed by Pinar Atalay and Peter Kloeppel from a studio in Berlin.
The round is a premiere: So far there have only been TV duels in Germany - between the Chancellor and a challenger.
Two more trials will follow in September, initially in two weeks on ARD and ZDF, then on ProSieben, Sat.1 and Kabel Eins.
