CDU boss and candidate for chancellor Armin Laschet has presented a first part of his plans for the final spurt of the election campaign.

Laschet said in the Konrad-Adenauer-Haus in Berlin that he wanted to transform Germany into a "climate-neutral industrial country" in order to face the climate crisis.

To this end, the expansion of renewable energies must be accelerated, innovations for better climate protection must be promoted.

In addition to climate policy, Laschet wants to present four other key topics from the CDU program in the coming days.

These are the points of digitization, tax relief, economic development and security.

For each core topic, there should be politicians from the CDU and CSU who are in charge of the topics.

For climate protection, this includes Wiebke Winter, direct candidate for the Bundestag for Bremen and Bremerhaven and co-initiator of the »Climate Union«.

In addition to presenting his climate policy, Laschet used the appointment in the Adenauer House to accuse his SPD opponent Olaf Scholz of lack of ideas.

"I didn't feel that it was a firework of ideas," said Laschet, referring to Scholz 'statements at the TV triumph on Sunday evening.

"The Chancellor would have given an answer"

The Union candidate for chancellor rejected the criticism that Scholz was clearly more statesmanlike - "chancellor".

"It is not chancellor if you imitate the rhombus," said Laschet.

Scholz also failed to give a red-red-green coalition a clear rejection, "a very simple question without an answer."

From a Chancellor's point of view, "the Chancellor would have given an answer," said Laschet.

Laschet, Scholz and the green candidate for Chancellor Annalena Baerbock competed in the first big TV triall on Sunday.

In addition to climate issues, the main focus was on Germany's role in Afghanistan and corona policy (read a summary of the triell here), and the question of possible coalitions was also discussed.
