Fire in Milan, Mayor Sala: 'Immediately ascertain responsibilities'

The mayor of the Lombard capital, Giuseppe Sala, has ruled out victims while it will now be up to the judiciary to establish the causes of the flames that seem to have started from the facade, made up, according to the residents, of fireproof material.

"The fire is still formally not completely extinguished - explained Giuliano Santagata, commander of the Milan fire brigade - Never seen such a thing in Milan. It is likely that the facade was made of highly combustible material".

"The judiciary is already working to clarify the dynamics of what happened. My hope is that the responsibilities are ascertained quickly". The mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, wrote it on social media, talking about the building destroyed by the fire. "The Torre del Moro was built just over 10 years ago and it is not acceptable that such a modern building has proved completely vulnerable - added Sala, who was there yesterday to check the situation -. Yesterday our city experienced hours of deep concern for the flames that engulfed the Torre del Moro, in the Vigentino district ".

Among the hypothesis a short circuit on the 15th floor, 

where the flames originated, as shown by a video of the investigation carried out by a resident of the area, among the hypotheses being examined by investigators and investigators on the case of the terrible fire of the 'Torre dei He died in via Antonini, in Milan.

At the moment, however, as specified by the investigators, it is not yet possible to have precise answers on the causes of the maxi stake.

In the meantime, specialists from the Fire Brigade investigative unit also arrived from Rome to conduct the investigations.

Numerous fire brigade teams and many ambulances rushed to the scene. 

The fire, which started around 5.45 pm, affected two civic numbers, number 32 and number 34 of Via Antonini, where, according to what has been learned, about 70 families live.  

There is also Mahmood, the winner of the Sanremo Festival 2019, among the residents of the building.

Some residents have confirmed this.

"We always saw him," said one girl.

 "We smelled the smell of smoke and immediately ran away. I didn't think it was so serious": this is what a woman living in the building in via Antonini, devoured by flames, told ANSA.

The woman ran away from the 15th floor from where the stake would have started.

"The firefighters told me that he would leave from the other side of my floor - continues the woman - where a boy lives who should have saved himself". 

 "For now we have no reports of victims or injured": this is what the mayor of Milan Beppe Sala said, speaking in via Antonini on the spot. "About twenty people have gone out without problems - he added - now the firefighters enter house by house breaking down the doors to see if anyone has remained inside. We are positive about the fact that there was time to go out but until the check is done. we can't be sure ".
