The Fossil Gen 6 Touchscreen Smartwatch, as it is its official name, is a smartwatch that wants to offer elegance, great fluidity and some functions similar to those found in the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic despite not arriving with Wear OS 3.
Fossil says that the Gen 6 watch will receive an update to Wear OS 3 in 2022 along with other updates that promise to improve the experience, so at the moment Samsung is the only one offering a smartwatch with Wear OS 3, albeit with a custom interface. and without Google Assistant and other traditional apps.
However, the Fossil Gen 6 watch has features like SpO2 (which measures oxygenation in the blood) and continuous heart rate monitoring like Samsung watches.
The good thing is that despite not having Wear OS 3, the Fossil Gen 6 watch has Google Assistant, a virtual assistant that is much more useful and effective than the assistant (Bixby) in Samsung watches.
In addition, the Fossil Gen 6 is compatible with the iPhone and the watch 4 does not.
The main shortcomings of not having Wear OS 3 is mainly in the lack of some apps such as Smartphone and Samsung Pay, a possible integration with Fitbit in the future and perhaps other functions that we do not know yet because we have not known a watch with Wear OS 3 pure.
On the other hand, the great fluidity of the Fossil Gen 6 watch comes from the hand of the new Snapdragon Wear 4100+ processor.
With this, the Fossil Gen 6 should be the most fluid Wear OS smartwatch alongside the Watch 4, as it is the first watch to have this Qualcomm processor (Samsung's watch has an Exynos processor).
This smartwatch is similar to the Apple Watch, but its battery lasts a week and is compatible with Alexa
The other outstanding point that Fossil emphasizes is that the Gen 6 watch brings a new fast charge that would allow it to be charged from 0 to 80 percent in just 30 minutes, similar to what the Oppo Watch has offered, which has a much faster charge than that of the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic.
In general, it is good to see new smartwatches on the market, especially with a new processor that can offer more fluidity and supporting Wear OS 3 which is a new generation of Google's operating system (previously also known as Android Wear) that is is combining for the first time with Tizen and even with some Fitbit features in the future.
However, it is a bit unfortunate that Wear OS 3 does not arrive at the launch of this watch and we have to wait until 2022. From here to there it is possible that Google will present its rumored Pixel watch and that other companies will also present new watches with Wear OS 3 or that at least they can be updated to that version.
For example, the company itself said that it will present a Michael Kors Gen 6 watch in the future, but more details are unknown.
