While Hurricane Ida cut off millions from the power grid, at least one person was killed when a tree collapsed on his home • Fear in the country of the collapse of the dam system

At least one person was killed and dozens more injured in torrential rains, floods and strong winds that hit the state of Louisiana as a result of Hurricane Ida that hit the country today (Monday) with tremendous intensity.

The victim was hit by a tree in the state capital, Baton Rouge, east of the state, near the state of Alabama.

Louisiana Gov. John Bell Edwards spoke to the media, saying, "I expect the death toll to rise significantly. I do not want to mislead anyone. ".

"The amount of destruction and water flooding the roads is making it very difficult for rescue operations in the hardest hit areas," the governor said, adding that all eight main power lines that supply electricity to New Orleans, the state's largest city, have collapsed. Edwards noted that the state's dams system is functioning well under tremendous pressure and said: "If we had a problem in this area, it would have been a catastrophe."

Despite the governor's remarks, at least one dam system in the east of the country collapsed in the Playmines community, but most of the community's residents were evacuated ahead of time to a higher place and there was no concern for residents' lives. However, the state fears that the collapse of trade and water crossing systems will cause flooding as occurred in 2005, when Hurricane Katrina caused the collapse of dams in New Orleans, killing hundreds and hundreds of thousands of evacuees.

900 volunteers from across the United States joined the Louisiana National Guard in the morning on rescue and rescue missions across the state.

These forces were joined by several private companies as well as non-profit organizations operating in some of the provinces in the country.

Nearly one million people in the largest city in the state of Louisiana, New Orleans, were left without electricity after the winds caused tremendous damage to the power grid.

Police in the country have reported numerous cases in which power poles have been damaged as a result of a tree collapsing.

Southeast Louisiana has seen heavy rains that have plowed into heavy flooding.

Rescue organizations told the CNN news network that they carried out 150 rescue operations in the past day in which people were taken out of homes and vehicles that were flooded.
