On the night of Saturday to Sunday, August 29, police officers were violently attacked by two men caught in the act of burglary, in Rezé (Loire-Atlantique).
The police had to respond by opening fire 24 times, according to police information transmitted to

The target of the thugs was a “
Kiloutou
”
store
in a commercial area. Having entered the premises of the establishment after having forced the gate with their Peugeot Partner van, they quickly found themselves in front of a police car. Three officers thus attempted to block the van to prevent it from leaving. The burglars promptly responded, with the driver rushing into the police vehicle. In danger, the three members of the security forces then retaliated. Twenty-four shots were reportedly fired to force the attackers to stop and surrender. The policeman who was driving the vehicle directly targeted by the ram car, underwent medical examinations on Sunday.
Those arrested are cousins aged 28 and 32, belonging to the community of Travelers and very unfavorably known to the courts.
They were several times sentenced to prison terms for break and enter, according to

Wounded in the tibia and wrist, they were transported to the Nantes University Hospital and are currently in police custody.

". Denouncing the risks taken by the criminals, the organization asked the Justice to "
finally whistle the end of recess: we again demand the application of much tougher penalties so as to avoid the repetition of these acts of delinquency
