In the direct election question, Olaf Scholz has been ahead of Green Chancellor candidate Annalena Baerbock and Union candidate Armin Laschet for many weeks.
This is now also reflected in the evaluation of the appearance of the three in the first TV triall on Sunday evening.
According to a survey by the opinion research institute Civey for SPIEGEL, Scholz had the best effect on viewers.
Around 37 percent said the SPD candidate made the most convincing appearance.
To this end, Civey asked representative viewers of the TV triad that was broadcast by "RTL" and "n-tv" who were eligible to vote.
Armin Laschet and Annalena Baerbock each found 25 percent most convincing.
13 percent perceived the candidates as “roughly the same”.

The survey shows that the audience was particularly impressed by the candidate whose parties they already sympathize with.
86 percent of the SPD voters felt Scholz's appearance the most, 85 percent of the Greens voters favored Baerbock's performance.
Laschet did the worst with 71 percent of the supporters of his party.
If you break down the answers according to age, it becomes clear that Scholz does quite well in every age cohort - but his biggest fans, at 42 percent, are in the over 65 age group.
An advantage for the Social Democrats, because due to demographic change, this is also the largest group of voters.
In the case of the Greens, the opposite can be observed: Here people under 40 in particular felt the Baerbock appearance the most.
