This Thursday, some 525,000 young people will return to high school benches for the start of the school year.

This Tuesday morning, Valérie Pécresse, the president (Libres!) Of the Île-de-France region organized a press conference to present the novelties of the year 2021-2022 in her establishments.

Health crisis, student equipment, fight against dropping out of school… Here is what to remember from its announcements.

Digital development

This year, the 135,000 pupils of the second will be equipped with a computer.

“Last year, we also offered tablets in vocational schools, but ultimately the returns are much more positive with computers, suddenly we will distribute the same thing to everyone,” explained the president.

While many bugs were found on these computers last year, the region is launching a toll-free number to allow teachers and students to get rapid assistance in case of technical problems.

100% of high schools will also be covered by wi-fi in October.

The price of the canteen decreases

From now on, the minimum price of the canteen, which remains calculated according to the family quotient, will not exceed 50 euro cents per meal, against 1.54 euros previously.

The maximum price is 4.09 euros.

Note, to fight against menstrual insecurity, 100% of high schools will now be equipped with dispensers of free organic cotton periodical protection.

Fight against Covid-19

A health kit will be distributed to all high school students at the start of the school year.

They will find two masks, a self-test, hydroalcoholic gel, as well as information on vaccination centers.

"We offered to the State our help to drive high school students to vaccination centers with Île-de-France Mobilités, but we are still waiting for a response," said Valérie Pécresse.

Temporary reinforcements

Last year, 500 contract agents were recruited to replace incumbents vulnerable to Covid-19.

2,500 temporary workers were also called upon.

"This device will be renewed this year", detailed Marie-Carole Ciuntu, vice-president in charge of general administration.

A reinforcement considered insufficient for the opposition group Pôle Écologiste which estimates for its part in a press release that 900 agents are missing "to properly ensure the overload of work related to the health protocol".

CO2 sensors and air purifiers

After the canteens last year, gymnasiums, teachers 'and sports rooms will be equipped with CO2 sensors by All Saints' Day.

Air purifiers were also provided to high schools that requested them.

“200 establishments have already ordered 1,000 purifiers,” specified Valérie Pécresse.

An investment that was still insufficient for the opposition group Pôle Écologiste, which demanded CO2 sensors and / or purifiers in each classroom.

Retired teachers for homework help

Retired teachers will be recruited by the regional council to help with homework for young people with educational difficulties.

"This experiment will be carried out in about twenty high schools at the start of the school year and is intended to be extended next year," said the president.

Reinforced security brigades

These brigades, which intervene in particular in the event of incidents in a high school, must go from 25 to 50 agents this year. There should therefore be 10 groups of five agents compared to the current five.
