Wearing a mask will not be imposed in the many nightclubs in the German capital, known the world over for its nightlife.

Since this summer, some clubs had reopened but only offered access to their outdoor space to people vaccinated, cured or presenting a negative test, with the wearing of the mask imposed.

Reinforced controls for restaurateurs

This announcement follows a decision by a Berlin court which on August 20 ruled in favor of a nightclub manager who wanted to make his entire establishment accessible, at least to people who had been vaccinated or cured.

The Berlin municipality has also authorized the reopening of saunas and hammams, activities very popular in Germany, for people who have been vaccinated and cured.

It also plans to strengthen the controls of restaurant owners to force them to better verify the presentation of a negative test of the day, a certificate of convalescence or vaccination on the part of customers.

The incidence in the German capital has been increasing slightly for several weeks, currently standing at 72 infections per 100,000 inhabitants over seven days, while it is 60 nationally.

On Tuesday, 5,750 new cases of Covid-19 were identified in the country by the Robert Koch health watch institute.
