Many tertiary institutions in Hong Kong require teachers and students to be vaccinated. The Chinese University of Hong Kong issued a notice earlier requiring students to be vaccinated before they can be given priority in allocating dormitories.
Today (31st) a girl from CUHK locked her dormitory room for a while and was sent to the hospital for treatment due to her emotional instability.
CUHK responded that a student on campus was emotionally unstable this afternoon. The university called the police for help and an ambulance arrived at the school to send the student to the hospital for treatment.
The police said that the incident was a 21-year-old female student surnamed Zhao, who was locked in the dormitory at one time.
In May, most colleges sent e-mails to students stating that students who have been vaccinated will be given priority allocation. If there are remaining places, students who have not been vaccinated will be placed in the same room, but their activities in public spaces will be restricted.
CUHK recognizes the new arrangement. Students must be vaccinated or undergo the bi-weekly check-up arrangement before they can be allocated dormitories.
