Furnishing for Gapark

GAP - meeting, sitting, reading, observing, lingering - spontaneous chat with neighbors or getting together with fellow human beings is simply something beautiful. Therefore, in addition to sporting opportunities, offers for children and families, a relaxation area is planned in the Gapark, the Eldorado that is currently being created between the hospital school and St.-Martin-Straße with the support of the market town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. (we reported) And it has to be 'furnished' invitingly.

If it goes according to the ideas of the association, everything should be there, from cozy bankers to inviting hammocks. “It was important to us that ideas for this came from the place for the place,” explains Ursula Höger from the “Friends of Natural Encounter and Exercise Areas for Garmisch-Partenkirchen”. Then the thought arose of contacting the SHG, and the headmaster Florian Becker had open ears. She and her colleagues are particularly pleased that the students in the 2nd semester of the Academy for Room and Object Design with their specialist teacher Dirk Schellberg were able to be won over specifically for this purpose. “We really enjoyed it,” explains Natalie Herrmann, who enthusiastically went to work with the others after the on-site visit.

Before the summer holidays, the 16 young people presented their designs for the Gapark recreation area at the open day in the schools for wood and design (SHG) of the Upper Bavaria district in Garmisch-Partenkirchner Hauptstrasse. "We are totally overwhelmed by the proposals," explains Susanne Beyer, first chairwoman, who is still looking at everything in disbelief.

“It's great what could be possible. That's exactly what it takes, ”adds club colleague Angelika Gierer. Far beyond the actual task of designing suitable seating for the outdoor facilities, the students in four teams also thought about the overall concept of the recreation area, which always included nature. There is something special in each of the design plans, something that catches the eye, provides a kick-off. “Ideas can also be combined with pleasure. We are open to everything, ”says Schellberg, who points out another way forward.

In the schools, which, as is well known, combine five wood training institutions under one roof, it may even be possible to manufacture individual pieces.

The women from the club know that the financial question will be decisive.

But one thing is also clear to them: the recreation area should be of high quality and very special alongside the football field, sandpit, play equipment, bike course and orchard.

Some things have already been created, others would like to be implemented this year in order to finally turn the previous wasteland into an inner-city meeting, games and recreation park - the Gapark.

"We are already around 70 members, we would be happy to have more as well as sponsors and everyone who would like to support us," says Beyer.
