Guterres was quoted by the Iranian news agency IRNA as saying in a message to Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi that "the new Iranian government takes office in conjunction with dangerous conditions as we all face many common challenges, including the Covid-19 epidemic, climate change and long and devastating conflicts, including in the Middle East." .

"I count on the cooperation of the Iranian president and his government to further advance the values ​​and aspirations enshrined in the United Nations Charter," Guterres added.
