United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres announced his readiness to work with the new Iranian government to achieve peace, security, sustainable development and human rights around the world.
Guterres was quoted by the Iranian news agency IRNA as saying in a message to Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi that "the new Iranian government takes office in conjunction with dangerous conditions as we all face many common challenges, including the Covid-19 epidemic, climate change and long and devastating conflicts, including in the Middle East." .
"I count on the cooperation of the Iranian president and his government to further advance the values and aspirations enshrined in the United Nations Charter," Guterres added.
Raisi took office as Iran's president on the 3rd of this month after winning the presidential elections that took place on the 18th of last June with 61.95 percent of the vote.
