A 31-year-old man stabbed his father-in-law to death
upon learning that he was abusing his two minor children.
The murderer entered the home of his 70-year-old relative and killed him with several blows.
The dramatic situation occurred in the Pudahuel commune, Santiago de Chile.
The abuser had previously been denounced by his own daughter upon learning of the abuse by his own children.
According to the minors, their grandfather proposed "indecent touching" to them.
As explained by the commissioner Julio Ceballos, of the PDI Homicide Brigade, the victim had been denounced by his daughter for the alleged sexual abuse of two grandchildren, with whom he lived in the house.
The crime occurred in the commune of Pudahuel, Chile.
"Carabineros personnel arrived at the home, entered it and realized that the person was in his bed with various sharps wounds at the cervical level," he said.
According to the commissioner,
the murderer took advantage of the fact that the 70-year-old man was sleeping and attacked him with a knife.
He made five cuts that killed him instantly.
After the crime, he called his partner to confess that he had killed his father-in-law.
As explained by the commissioner Julio Ceballos, the victim had been denounced by his daughter for the alleged sexual abuse of two grandchildren, with whom he lived in the house.
The body of the children's grandfather was found early Monday at the home he shared with his daughter and grandchildren.
His finding later occurred that the mother of the minors had allegedly known about the abuse and made a complaint to the local police.
Despite the death of the abuser, the judicial proceedings will continue to determine the existence of the fact reported by the woman.
Identities were not provided.
The abuser died at his home.
He received five stab wounds.
In Chile, sexual assaults against minors are a serious problem: 77% of complaints of sexual violence that are presented to the courts affect children or adolescents.

Data from the Public Ministry of Chile indicate that, of the total victims of sexual crimes, 77% are boys, girls and adolescents, while 23% are adults.
