An extraordinary citizens' meeting will take place in the city of Wolfratshausen at the end of September.

The only topic: "Cellular and 5G."

Wolfratshausen - A year ago, Dr.

Hans Schmidt sent a list to Mayor Klaus Heilinglechner with the signatures of 480 citizens who wanted an extraordinary citizens' meeting on the subject of "mobile communications and 5G" to be convened.

The town hall chief refused, but suggested an information event with the same items on the agenda as a replacement.

What awaits the visitors in the Loisachhalle on September 28th, Schmidt revealed at the annual meeting of the “Wolfratshausen Citizens' Initiative to Protect Against Electrosmog” in the sports center of the Isar-Loisach Stadium.

Speakers from both sides will ensure that everyone can form a balanced judgment on this controversial issue.

Dr.

Hans Schmidt, spokesman for the "Wolfratshausen Citizens' Initiative for Protection against Electrosmog"

"Speakers on both sides will ensure that everyone can form a balanced judgment on this controversial topic," promised Schmidt.

He pointed out that, according to a survey by the industry association Bitkom, almost half of Germans are critical of the expansion of mobile communications and fear negative health consequences.

In his function as environmental officer of the city council, Schmidt then wants to submit an application to a city council meeting in order to motivate the city to carry out "preventive measures" and activities.

As an example, he cited the creation of fiber optic networks as the basis for low-radiation cell phone coverage and the expansion of radio-free areas.

New cellular standard introduced overnight?

According to the spokesman for the citizens' initiative, speed is of the essence, because in Wolfratshausen, a new mobile communications standard was introduced by Telekom virtually overnight, so to speak.

"And that despite the fact that the federal government had promised that the population should be given detailed information beforehand," says Schmidt annoyed.

After his lecture, the five members who appeared elected him again by acclamation as the first speaker of the citizens' initiative.

Schmidt receives support from the new Vice Reinhold Balthasar, who takes over the position of the deceased board member Ernst Hölzl.

Manfred Zeif is the treasurer.

He was also unable to attend the general meeting, as was the 88-year-old Werner Fiedler, whom Schmidt made an honorary member.
