Dietmannsried - A few days ago a new "fair divider cabinet" was put into operation in Dietmannsried.
Unlike its predecessor, this one has a refrigerator (financed by the waste management association in Kempten).
"This means that dairy products and eggs can now also be offered, and fruit and vegetables stay fresh longer," says Petra Niazi, one of the project's organizers. Due to the power connection, the location was relocated to the east side of the town hall. A team of volunteers ensures that the busy cupboard is continuously stocked with groceries that are given away by businesses in the area, that it is cleaned, that spoiled items are sorted out and that the refrigerator temperature is recorded. “Citizens are also allowed to put in their leftover, still edible food and excess stocks of fruit and vegetables from the garden,” emphasizes Niazi. “The aim is to save food from the garbage can. That's why everyone who wants to can take things out of the closet, regardless of income. "
