Penzberg - No meeting for two years: No wonder that the Penzberg fire brigade was now pending a lot of honors. One particularly stood out.

Penzberg - No meeting for two years: No wonder that the Penzberg fire brigade was now pending a lot of honors.

One particularly stood out.

The applause in the vehicle hall does not want to end this evening.

Those present clap for minutes.

In the front stands a man to whom the Penzberg fire brigade is able to express his thanks.

Peter Abt, now 71 years old and an institution among the voluntary helpers, has just received the Golden Decoration of Honor of the State Fire Brigade Association from the hands of District Fire Councilor Rüdiger Sobotta.

An award that is not often given.

At the latest general meeting, Abt is retired from his position as treasurer - the Penzberger has been with the association for five decades and, as a former Sparkasse banker, had also taken care of the finances.

With us for 50 years

Peter Abt has been with us since January 1971.

He was in command and deputy commandant, is an honorary member and honorary district fire chief.

Abbot has done a lot for the voluntary service, says District Fire Councilor Sobotta, paying tribute to the veteran firefighter.

For the honorary office, Abbot “was never too good”, said Sobotta.
