The city of Schongau is still urgently looking for helpers on the way to school.
Volunteers are still needed, especially for the transition on Colmarer Straße, so that the burden does not become too great for each individual.
The coordination remains in the hands of Andreas Lüttgau.

Every year the city faces the same dilemma: When children whose parents volunteer to help out to school change schools, the volunteers often stop or get involved in other ways.
Because the long-term coordinator for school helpers, Martina Heim, also stopped last school year, Andreas Lüttgau was able to gain a lot of experience with this.
The Schongauer, who had also been part of the team as a way to school helper, contacted the team at the beginning of the past school year 2020 and, fortunately, will remain as the coordinator, as Esther Laue explains, who, among other things, is responsible for the city's main administration is responsible for the organization of the school helpers.

The team of school helpers is not yet complete. Although 25 volunteers are on the list at Laue, six school helpers take a break or are only registered as replacements. And a total of 19 helpers on the way to school are not enough, because one does not want to burden the individual citizens too much. Volunteers are still being sought, especially for Colmarer Straße, who stand by the street with a trowel in the morning or at noon and ensure that the children can safely cross the street. So far there are only five on the team for this street, which means that you get it once a week. It currently looks pretty good at the two main crossings Lechuferstraße and Fanschuhstraße, but reinforcements can always be needed there, too. "The more helpers, the less the effort for each individual," says Laue.
It starts with the start of the school year
It starts in September at the beginning of the school year.
The school helpers are available daily from 7:10 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. on Lechuferstraße and Colmarer Straße.
Fanschuhstraße should be manned between 7.20 a.m. and 7.45 a.m.
The school helpers are insured through the city, the equipment is also provided.
The instruction of new helpers by the Schongau police takes place directly on site.

Laue hopes that everything will go back to normal this year.
In the past Corona year, of course, many services of the school helpers failed or had to be organized differently.
“Sometimes the start times of the classes were staggered, so of course it was not possible to occupy the transitions at all times,” says Laue.
