Damascus-SANA
The Syrian Telecom Company announced the amendment of the international minutes tariff issued by the company according to new segments, as of tomorrow, Wednesday.
The Director of the Commercial Department of the Syrian Telecom Company, Engineer Ayham Dalloul, said in a statement to a representative of SANA that the international telecommunication service is one of the basic services that the Syrian Telecom Company provides to its customers in agreement with the companies that pass international traffic outside Syria to complete the path of international telecommunications and agree with them on the fees for minutes in foreign currency.
Dalloul explained that Syrian Telecom collects international calls from its customers in Syrian pounds and pays the costs of securing the service and operating and maintenance costs in foreign currency so that it can continue to carry out its duties by providing telecommunication services.
Dalloul pointed out that the Syrian Telecom Company is forced from time to time to adjust the fees for international calls in coordination with the Telecommunications and Postal Regulatory Authority, taking into account changes in the official exchange rate for foreign exchange at the Central Bank of Syria, the last of which was on the fourteenth of last April, when the price was modified The average for the US dollar is from 1256 Syrian pounds to 2512 Syrian pounds.
Dalloul considered that the aim of the price adjustment is not to achieve any additional profits, but to maintain the continuity of the service and cover the additional costs that resulted from the exchange rate changes, indicating that according to the statistics that were made during the price adjustment study, the segment that still uses this service is the commercial segment, not the commercial segment. Residential because residential use is on a small scale during some occasions such as holidays.
Dalloul called to see the new prices for the international call minute through the website of the Syrian Telecom Company, or by calling 190.
