In the elections for the Athletes' Committee of the Olympic Committee in Israel, which are held once for the Olympic cycle, which were held this week, nine Olympic athletes from among the 13 who submitted their candidacies were elected to the committee's management.
The nine selected: Yaakov Tomarkin, Hanna Knyazeva Minenko, Shachar Tzobari, Andy Moraz, Linoy Ashram, Ilana Kartish Girma Amra, Nofar Edelman and Yuval Filo.
For the first time in the history of the Olympic Committee in Israel, these elections were held online in light of the large number of eligible voters, the corona restrictions and the fact that quite a few of the eligible athletes are not in the country.
Four of them will be elected to the plenum of the Israel Olympic Committee, from which the chairman of the athletes' committee will be elected to represent the committee in the management of the Israeli Olympic Committee, which will be elected on November 7. The new chairman will replace Neta Rivkin, who served as chairman of the current board.
"The management of the Olympic Committee sees great importance in the involvement of athletes in the policy and vision of Olympic sports in Israel as well as in making the attitudes and needs of athletes present and past to decision makers and congratulates the voters on the new management."
