The seven-day incidence should soon no longer be the only decisive factor for corona measures.

Today Prime Minister Markus Söder presents a new strategy.

  • The cabinet around Markus Söder (CSU *) meets on Tuesday on new corona rules.

  • The FFP2 mask requirement * should drop, the incidence * should no longer be solely decisive for measures.

  • This ticker is updated regularly.

Munich - It is the first cabinet meeting after the summer break - and it has it all: The state government is putting its anti-Corona * strategy on a new footing.

The seven-day incidence * will soon have largely become obsolete.

Söder announces: FFP2 mask requirement should drop - incidence should no longer be the only decisive factor

The cabinet will meet on Tuesday (August 31) at ten o'clock and will discuss and adopt new rules for the fight against the coronavirus *.

The focus should be on the 3G principle with freedom for vaccinated, recovered and tested people - Prime Minister Markus Söder * (CSU) announced this last week.

In addition, the seven-day incidence alone should no longer be decisive for anti-corona measures in the future.

Instead, there should be a kind of traffic light system that focuses on the utilization of intensive care units and hospitals in the Free State.

According to Söder, the FFP2 mask requirement should also fall.

New corona rules for Bavaria: Söder press conference after cabinet meeting

There will be a press conference after the cabinet meeting, which will again take place via video link.

On this, Söder, together with Education Minister Michael Piazolo and Health Minister Klaus Holetschek, informed about the results of the consultations.

You can follow the press conference at 1 p.m. here in the live stream and ticker.

But even before Söder announced the new rules in the afternoon, some of the previously announced easing was criticized.

At the current time, these are "the wrong way and represent an unnecessary risk," said Michael Schwägerl, Chairman of the Bavarian Association of Philologists (bpv).

“Where a safe and safe start to school is what everyone wants.” In Bavaria, school starts on September 14th.

Söder government announces Corona easing: Criticism follows

The elimination of the FFP2 mask requirement in local public transport, which is also used by schoolchildren, is problematic. Medical masks should then be sufficient there. The start of the school year in other federal states had shown that the risk of infections, including those caused by returning travelers, should be taken seriously.

In local public transport, people are crowded together at peak times, which is why the FFP2 standard offers additional security. This security is necessary if unvaccinated children and young people use buses and trains in the first weeks of school and then spend the day in their classes, said Schwägerl.

Corona in Bavaria: Tests in schools ensure classroom teaching

Regarding corona tests in schools, Schwägerl said that these are still important to break chains of infection and to ensure classroom teaching.

Elementary and special schools use the PCR pool tests, which are time-saving and more informative.

Secondary schools should not be disadvantaged.

"If there is progress in the test strategy, it must benefit all types of schools."

Corona incidence in Bavaria is falling slightly - Rosenheim continues with incidence over 200

A look at the incidence shows that it has fallen for the first time in a long time.

For Bavaria, the Robert Koch Institute * (RKI) reported an incidence of 70.1 on Tuesday, compared with 70.7 the day before.

The cities of Rosenheim (217.0), Schweinfurt (176.3) and Memmingen (166.8) remain hotspots.

Munich is currently at 75.9.

The districts of Hof and Neustadt an der Waldnaab have the lowest value in the Free State of 14.8.
