Formerly shunned, TousAntiCovid is now one of the applications most used by the French.
According to the Médiamétrie NetRatings ranking published on Tuesday, the government application was used by 27.6 million people in July, making it the eighth most popular digital service in France behind the behemoths Google, Facebook, YouTube, Amazon, WhatsApp, Instagram and Wikipedia.

This is a very strong breakthrough for TousAntiCovid, which fluctuated between 14 and 16 million unique monthly visitors since the start of 2021.

This take-off, which began in June with 19 million users, can be explained by the gradual implementation of the health pass in places open to the public.
The app has been updated to store a digital version of vaccination certificates or PCR and antigen test results.
It also became, from July, a key to crossing intra-European borders.
Nearly 5 million installations in August
In July, the health pass covered museums, concerts, shows, fairs, cinemas, theaters and trade fairs.
The system was extended in August to restaurants, bars, cafes, libraries, as well as certain shopping centers.
It is therefore a bet that the use of TousAntiCovid has seen a new boost, which the application data seems to confirm.
The latter was installed and used by nearly 5 million additional smartphones in August, for a total of nearly 32 million installations between June 2, 2020 and August 31, 2021.

TousAntiCovid should also make its appearance in smartphones for 12-17 year olds, which will be subject to the health pass from September 30.
Originally thought of as a contact-tracing application, StopCovid then TousAntiCovid has evolved over the months like a Swiss army knife.
In addition to the health pass, it houses travel certificates for regions subject to confinement or curfews and serves as a digital reminder book.
The French can also consult the latest figures on the evolution of the epidemic and the progress of the vaccination campaign.
