The non-governmental organization Observatorio Ciudadano Covid-19 of Nicaragua urgently called on the population this Wednesday to initiate a voluntary quarantine, given what they consider "a pandemic peak" that is going through the country and that has caused, he says. , a "collapse of the health system".
"17 months after the start of the coronavirus pandemic in Nicaragua, the lack of will of the national and health authorities to take the necessary measures to preserve the health and life of the Nicaraguan population has been evidenced, that is why it is urgent that the civil population organize and dispose of collective and self-managed care, "said the Observatory in a statement.
According to the Observatory's statement, the same health authorities reported between November 2020 and April 2021 an average of 60 new infections per week, while in a report this Tuesday they reported 568 cases the last week of August.
In total, the Ministry of Health recognizes 11,916 cases and 200 deaths since the arrival of the disease in March 2020.
