During the past eight months, the People's Credit Bank in As-Suwayda granted loans worth 2 billion and 425 million pounds, benefiting 2,100 low-income citizens working in the state and military and civilian retirees, according to the insurance and pension law.
The director of the bank, Adham Al-Attar, said in a statement to the SANA Economic Bulletin that the bank witnessed a demand for loans after raising their ceiling to an amount of 2 million pounds for one borrower who meets the terms and instructions for lending and to benefit from the advantage of prepayment of loans to obtain loans with new ceilings in addition to the facilities provided in terms of accepting a guarantee. Retirees and only one sponsor.
Al-Attar pointed out that the loans granted during the current year increased from last year, in conjunction with the bank’s continued provision of withdrawal and deposit services, account opening and bank transfers, in addition to monthly pension transfer services to about 3,000 retirees.
Al-Attar indicated that the bank has started, as of today, to grant productive loans to micro projects with a ceiling of 30 million pounds, small projects with a ceiling of 200 million pounds, and medium ones with a ceiling of 500 million pounds, and they include various service, production, industrial and craft projects.
The Suwayda Credit Bank granted loans worth $2.66 billion last year, benefiting 2,487 citizens.
