After there was no Ramadama in Peißenberg last year due to the corona pandemic, the market town is to be freed from the garbage from the past two years on Saturday, September 18.

For the first time, Peißenberg takes part in "World Cleanup Day".

Peißenberg

- As Mayor Frank Zellner and Christina Sporer from the municipal administration explained at a press conference, Peißenberg sets the date for Ramadama for the first time on "World Cleanup Day" on September 18th.

"We are joining this campaign with the Peißenberg market," said Zellner. For this reason, Peißenberg is moving away from the previous date for Ramadama in spring and switching to autumn. All clubs and schools are currently being contacted. But other citizens can also take part in the big clean-up. "Everyone is very welcome," said Zellner. The meeting point is at 10 a.m. in front of the Tiefstollenhalle in Peißenberg.

There the participants are divided into groups that are assigned to different districts. “This is how we want to ensure that we cover the entire community area,” said Sporer, who is responsible for organizing Ramadama this year. The market town provides disposable gloves and garbage bags. "If you have garbage picks, you are welcome to bring them with you," said Sporer. In order to be able to plan better, the participants should register in the town hall by Friday, September 10th at the latest. The corona rules must be adhered to when cleaning up.

On "World Cleanup Day" the tidying up should take place by 12 noon. Afterwards, all participants in the Tiefstollenhalle should be given a snack - "if Corona allows it," said Zellner. He and Sporer expect that cleaning up will be particularly worthwhile this year. On the one hand because the campaign did not take place last year, on the other hand because the lockdowns and corona rules have moved many meetings and some celebrations outdoors that would otherwise have taken place indoors. “Garbage is an issue in Peißenberg. We notice that one or the other is now taking place outside, ”said Zellner. For example, at the Moosleiten parking lot, at the Ammer and around the “Rigi-Center”, much more rubbish has accumulated in the past few months than before.

This is another reason why it is important to organize Ramadama, said Mayor Zellner, because the campaign is intended to raise awareness that rubbish should be properly disposed of and not just thrown into the landscape.

In order to make the garbage problem clear to children and young people, the mayor believes that it is particularly important that schools also take part in the campaign.

How many of the Peißenberg schools will be able to take part in Ramadama on September 18 has not yet been determined, as the date was set at relatively short notice.

"Maybe there will be an appointment next spring," said Zellner.
