Despite the corona pandemic, many travelers spent their summer holidays in Mallorca in 2021.
The Ministry of Health has now revealed how many were infected there.
Anyone who went on a holiday abroad in the summer of 2021 first had to find out about the numerous corona rules in the respective holiday country.
Strict requirements for entry, mask requirements on site and rules for returning travelers should slow the spread of the coronavirus and its variants.
At the same time, they made sure that most Germans preferred to spend their holidays in their homeland.
Nevertheless, some travelers ended up on the popular holiday island of Mallorca - meanwhile high numbers of infections could only dampen the desire to travel to a limited extent.
The first figures now show how risky the stay on site really was.
Mallorca: How many foreign vacationers have actually contracted Corona?
So far, only a few foreign holidaymakers on Mallorca and the neighboring islands have been infected with the virus, as reported by
Mallorca Magazin
, citing data from the Balearic Ministry of Health.
According to this, only 2,385 people have been infected since April, which is
not even 0.1 percent of the 2.8 million guests
who were in Mallorca until August.
553 of them had to go to one of the Corona hotels on the islands, the others stayed in their holiday accommodations during the quarantine period.
Spanish holidaymakers were not recorded separately in the statistics.

In the past few weeks, the Robert Koch Institute has reported an increasing number of cases with exposure abroad.
According to the weekly situation report of August 26,
Spain was the fourth most mentioned as a possible country of infection in the four previous weeks
.
That's 927 cases out of 15,333 reported.
However, it is unclear whether the infections occurred in connection with a vacation stay or in which regions of Spain the people were staying.
In the meantime, the proportion of cases with exposure abroad is falling again, as the RKI reports.
