For many young people, a new phase of life begins in September.

In the district of Munich, 1,220 young adults are starting an apprenticeship in an IHK profession.

With the beginning of September occurred in

1220 adolescents district of Munich

, a

training in IHK professions

to.

According to the preliminary statistics at the beginning of the training year, there is an increase in the number of training contracts concluded by more than 14 percent compared to the previous year, as reported by the I

HK for Munich and Upper Bavaria

.

“The Corona slump from the previous year has thus stopped.

In view of the

increasing shortage of skilled workers,

our companies are

relying

more than ever on training their youngsters themselves.

The willingness to train is unbroken.

The strength of our dual training system is helping right now, ”says Christoph Leicher, chairman of the IHK regional committee Munich-Land.

"The biggest problem for many companies is still the lack of applicants."

Shortage of skilled workers: 606 apprenticeship positions remain unfilled - 198 apprenticeship applicants remain unsupported

According to the latest statistics from the employment agency, 606 apprenticeship positions are still vacant in the district. 198 apprenticeship applicants were faced with this offer. In purely mathematical terms, there are three apprenticeship positions for every unsaved applicant in the Munich district. “In the next few years, the gap between applicants on the training market will widen even further. 2.8 million workers in Bavaria will retire by 2030. In the same period, however, there will only be 1.5 million school leavers as potential young skilled workers for these vacancies, ”says the IHK regional committee chairman. As in the previous year, the corona pandemic also made it difficult for almost all career orientation measures.

Trial internships, training fairs and personal application interviews could often not take place at all or only to a very limited extent. The important application phase in spring also suffered from the extraordinary circumstances. The bottom line is that the number of applicants for training in the district has declined by six percent compared to the previous year, according to data from the employment agency. This information relates to all areas of the apprenticeship market which, in addition to the IHK area of companies in industry, trade and services, also includes the craft, liberal professions and the public service.

“We are still relying on a catch-up effect until the end of the year. School leavers who have not been taken care of and who are undecided still have every chance of finding a suitable training position, ”says Leicher optimistically. "This year, too, our declared goal remains that every school leaver willing to train gets an apprenticeship position." He calls for an apprenticeship after September 1st. “It's not too late yet.” The chairman clarifies: “After numerous apprenticeship positions in the region were unfilled last year, some companies have given up the active search for trainees.

For the industries that are still affected by Corona restrictions, such as gastronomy, tourism and the event industry, the perspective is very difficult anyway.

Even those who offer apprenticeships sometimes have great problems finding applicants at all.

It is all the more important that there is no further lockdown and that the companies have planning security again, ”said Leicher.

Unrestricted face-to-face teaching is of fundamental importance for the chairman.

For the vocational schools, a clear test strategy or 3G regulations are needed in order to avoid the quarantine of entire classes and alternating lessons.

IT specialist is the most popular IHK profession

for

young men in the district

, and
