District - The Murnau branch of the Garmisch-Partenkirchen vaccination center has had its day and was closed on September 1st after a corresponding announcement.

The demand here has recently been too low.

At the beginning, that was in May 2021, the citizens of Murnau and the surrounding area still actively used the vaccination facility on the ground floor of the culture and conference center, but then the numbers dropped. From the beginning up to 144 first vaccinations in one day, the offer in Murnau had to be adjusted, i.e. corrected downwards, over the course of the summer. In August there were only up to 15 visitors per opening day.

"We would have liked better numbers for the branch in Murnau," says Stephan Scharf, the spokesman for the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district office, honestly. On 35 opening days, 1076 first and 1087 second vaccinations were given. A certain dilemma becomes clear from the figures: When the urge for a vaccination was greatest, the district had far too few vaccine doses to supply a branch office. And when finally enough vaccine was available, the general practitioners and company doctors in particular had speeded up the vaccination process. The mayors of the northern district parishes had pushed for the branch office, but the demand had steadily decreased shortly after the opening on May 8th.

It is already becoming apparent how the vaccination center in Garmisch-Partenkirchen at the Alpspitz wave pool will continue. The district council has now suggested that the centers should be in place until April 2022 - provided that the Free State reimburses the costs and, of course, that the need is continuously checked. This announcement does not come as a surprise, "because you want to be broadly positioned over autumn and winter," says Stephan Scharf. The press spokesman for the district office emphasizes that a “smart solution” has already been found in Garmisch-Partenkirchen with the container location at the Alpspitz wave pool. And he points out that the required low-threshold offers by mobile vaccination teams in the district will also be implemented in the future in order to be able to attract more people to the corona vaccination. On Friday, September 10th,such a team is on site from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm at the Edeka car park in Uffing; on Saturday, September 11th, you can be at the Ferchenbach car park in Seehausen from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. tra
