At 8pm on September 1, a serious traffic accident occurred at the Yuen Long Highway near the Shap Pat Heung roundabout. Two medium-sized trucks collided. One of the drivers was trapped in the driver's seat and was seriously injured. Firefighters were reported to the scene. During the rescue, the driver was finally rescued after about an hour. During the rescue, the Hospital Authority also sent a mobile medical team to the scene to assist.
However, in the early morning of the 2nd, the driver was certified dead in the emergency room of the hospital.
According to the Transport Department, due to a traffic accident, the entire Yuen Long Highway (toward Sheung Shui) near Shap Pat Heung has been closed.
At present, there is heavy traffic on the site, and motorists are urged to consider changing to other roads.

At the scene, there were many fire trucks on alert, and the Auxiliary Medical Team also came to the scene to rescue the injured. At 9pm on the 1st, the truck driver was finally rescued. He was bleeding and he was unconscious and was immediately sent to Pok Oi Hospital for rescue. He was eventually certified dead at around midnight on the 2nd.
Sources at the scene stated that the truck in the accident had a breakdown during driving and was parked on the center line of the highway. The trailing truck was suspected of being unable to catch it in time.
