The British newspaper The Guardian revealed growing concerns about the global coffee supply amid strict travel restrictions to contain the Corona virus.
The newspaper pointed out that supply chains were disrupted after Vietnam, the second largest coffee exporter in the world, tightened lockdown measures at the port of Ho Chi Minh City, in addition to imposing restrictions on some coffee growing areas in the central highlands.
Vietnam is trying to contain the outbreak of the Delta Corona virus, as restrictions were imposed in Ho Chi Minh City, the epicenter of the disease, last June, but these measures were tightened further last August, which led to huge problems in transporting goods, especially with high marketing costs.
The latest wave of the Corona outbreak in Vietnam has led to what analysts describe as a "perfect storm" in the global coffee market, while Brazil, the world's largest coffee producer, is suffering from unusual weather that has damaged crops and increased the cost of grain.
