The investigation focuses on two teachers and one man.
Gelsenkirchen / Lemgo - The shock is still deep in North Rhine-Westphalia: At the beginning of the week, a two-year-old choked to death in a daycare center in Gelsenkirchen during the afternoon nap.
Just one day later, a five-year-old died while playing in the outdoor area of a daycare center in Lemgo.
The police are now investigating for negligent homicide.
Could the tragic accidents have been prevented?
In Gelsenkirchen, two teachers (24 and 36) are the focus of the investigation after the two-year-old's death.
This was announced by the senior public prosecutor Birgit Jürgens on Wednesday (September 1).
In Lemgo in the Lippe district, the Detmold public prosecutor's office is investigating a 46-year-old.
He is said to have parked a trailer on the daycare site, which became a deadly trap for the five-year-old on Tuesday.

The first tragic accident in Gelsenkirchen had already shaken up on Monday: A two-year-old had suffocated during the afternoon nap.
Educators had found the boy lifeless after a nap in the facility.
He had been reanimated but died shortly afterwards.
Because of the position in which the boy was found, it is believed that he was trapped in a bunk bed.
The exact processes would be investigated further.
The boy was lying down in the bunk bed and possibly pushed up the bottom plate of the bed above.
Then his head was probably wedged between the bed frame and the bottom plate of the upper bed, a city spokesman said on Tuesday.
The teachers would have sat right in front of the relaxation room, but did not notice the misfortune.
Dead child in Lemgo: trailer became a deadly trap
On Tuesday there was also a tragic death in a day care center in Lemgo: A five-year-old was trapped between the tipping device and the chassis of the trailer while playing on the outdoor area.
Rescue workers were able to free the child, but it still died on the spot.
The autopsy of the boy showed that he died as a result of the injuries sustained in the accident.
On Wednesday, a 46-year-old came into focus on suspicion of negligent homicide: The man from the village is said to have parked the trailer on the day-care center because it was supposed to be used to remove bulky waste.
At the time of the accident, the two by three meter high trailer with a tipping loading area had not yet been loaded.
It belongs to the church sponsor of the kindergarten.

So far, not all of the possible witnesses have been questioned.
A spokesman for the police in Lippe said that the employees, relatives and children in the facility were seriously shocked by what was happening.

According to the prosecutor, there are apparently no adult eyewitnesses to the event.
