12 Hong Kong people | 9 people charged with obstruction of justice, another defendant intends to plead guilty

12 Hong Kong people involved in smuggling were intercepted in inland waters last year. Eight people charged with obstruction of justice were brought before the District Court today (2nd). The defense requested that the case be adjourned so that the defendants could be given legal advice.

One of the defendants, Zhang Junfu’s case, revealed that he intends to plead guilty, and the case will be heard again on October 26


The case originally involved 9 defendants: Liao Ziwen (18 years old, unemployed), Zheng Zihao (19 years old, technician), Zhang Junfu (24 years old, student), Zhang Mingyu (21 years old, transportation worker), Yan Wenqian (22 years old, student), Huang Linfu ( 17 years old, unemployed), Huang Weiran (30 years old, unemployed), Li Zixian (31 years old, surveyor) and Guo Zilin (19 years old, student) were charged with obstruction of justice.

Among them, Huang Linfu has pleaded guilty and was sentenced to the training center for the crimes of attempting arson with intent and obstructing justice.

The case on behalf of Zhang Junfu revealed that Zhang intends to confess to the crime of obstructing justice.

Looking through the information, Zhang was also charged with possession of explosives and possession of firearms without a license. The case will be handled in the High Court.

In addition, Yan Wenqian applied to the court for bail today, but was rejected by the judge.

All the defendants must continue to be remanded in custody during the adjournment of the case.
