69 teams in the eleventh national final of the university programming competition

Damascus, SANA- For five continuous hours, 69 teams competed within centers in (Damascus, Aleppo, Tishreen and Al-Baath) universities.

For five continuous hours, 69 teams within centers in (Damascus, Aleppo, Tishreen and Al-Baath) universities competed today in the eleventh national final of the University Programming Competition for the year 2021, with the results of which the winning teams will qualify for the Arab regional competition scheduled to be held in Egypt during the month of next November.

The participating teams in the national final represented 16 public and private universities, higher institutes and other educational institutions, according to a statement by Dr. Abi Sandoq, a teacher at the Faculty of Informatics Engineering at Damascus University and the competition coordinator for SANA, who indicated that the competition includes a set of programming challenges, where each team includes three competitors working on a computer. One is to solve a set of 13 software problems whose solution requires the creation of algorithms by the contestants and a systematic way of thinking.

Dr. Samer Shihabi, Head of the Basic Sciences Department at the Higher Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology in Aleppo branch, said: For the third year, we are participating in the programming competition, in which students compete not only in programming skills, but also with logical thinking skills to solve applied problems in creative ways.

The students participating in the competition praised the atmosphere of the scientific competition and the job opportunities that the competition provided. Khaled Hamdan, a fifth-year student at the Faculty of Informatics Engineering at Damascus University, said that he is participating for the fifth time in the competition and qualified for the Arab competition twice, pointing out the benefit he gained in terms of improving his level of logical thinking and obtaining On job opportunities, which was also emphasized by his fellow fourth-year student, Bisher Al-Ghubra, and its role in facilitating his university studies.

From the branch of the Higher Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology in Aleppo, students Saleh Nawar and Abdul Qader Hamami confirmed that the goal of their participation in the competition is to gain new experiences in programming in a highly competitive and enjoyable atmosphere, while the student Ahmed Younes from the Syrian Private University indicated that he is participating for the fourth time in a row in the competition and that He holds the first place (a gold medal) at the level of Syrian private universities and is currently competing to reach the Arab competition.

And from the Syrian Virtual University, student Suleiman Al-Awf pointed out that participating in such competitions requires a long training period, as new algorithms are learned in their competitions.

At the Al-Baath University Center, 16 teams participated in the championship competitions, representing the university and a number of private universities. Programming, Coordinator of Al-Baath University, Dr. Fadi Morshed, pointed out that this competition is an important scientific, social and cultural event because it creates a state of interaction and acquaintance that is considered an added value to the scientific content obtained by students.

In turn, the Head of the Computer Engineering Department at the National Private University, the university coordinator in the competition, Dr. Ammar Rimawi, indicated that it is the first participation of the National University in the programming competition, as it participates today through two teams, wishing to achieve successful results in the competition in light of the prevailing competition atmosphere.

The coach of Al-Wadi Private University team, Abdul Rahman Tulaimat, also confirmed that the university is always working to encourage students to participate in such competitions that contribute to the development of their capabilities and programming knowledge.
