Investigators from the Central Unit of the Northern District Police arrested yesterday (Wednesday) a suspect involved in the murder of Sahar Atef Ismail two and a half weeks ago in Rama.

Ismail was the adviser to Education Minister Yifat Shasha-Bitton and an associate of Justice Minister Gideon Saar.



The 36-year-old detainee is suspected of intentionally causing death, firing a firearm and conspiracy to commit a crime.

During the investigation, other suspects were arrested in connection with the murder.

Nazareth Magistrate's Court Judge Dalit Sharon-Green extended his detention for a week and in her decision wrote that she was convinced that there was a reasonable suspicion that the suspect had committed the offenses attributed to him in the arrest request.

Attorney Tomer Naveh, representing the suspect, said his client was not connected to anything and had no involvement in the murder.



Ismail was shot to death on the morning of August 15 when he left with his car in his neighborhood.

Unknown people waited for him, shot him to death and fled.
