Erding

- 237 young people started training in IHK professions in the district of Erding at the beginning of September.

The number of training contracts concluded remains almost unchanged with a slight increase of 0.4 percent compared to the previous year.

This is announced by Florian Reil, spokesman for the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) for Munich and Upper Bavaria.

The most popular IHK professions in the district are salespeople and clerk for office management.

“We see that the strong Corona slump from the previous year is not repeated in this training year. In view of the increasing shortage of skilled workers, our companies are focusing more than ever on training their youngsters themselves, ”emphasizes Otto Heinz, Chairman of the IHK Regional Committee Erding-Freising and Vice President of the IHK. The biggest problem for many companies is still the lack of applicants.

According to the employment agency, 274 apprenticeships are still vacant in the district. There are 62 unsaved applicants for this offer. In purely mathematical terms, there are more than four apprenticeship positions for every unsaved applicant in the district. "In the next few years, the gap between applicants on the training market will widen even further," fears Heinz. Because: “By 2030, 2.8 million workers in Bavaria will retire. In the same period, however, there will only be 1.5 million school leavers as potential young skilled workers for these vacancies. "

The corona pandemic also made it difficult for almost all career orientation measures this year. Trial internships, training fairs and personal job interviews often could not have taken place at all or only to a very limited extent, recalls the IHK Vice President. The important application phase in spring also suffered from the extraordinary circumstances.

The bottom line is that the number of applicants for training in the district has fallen by 3.2 percent compared to the previous year, according to data from the employment agency. This information relates to all areas of the training market, which, in addition to companies in industry, trade and services, also includes craft, liberal professions and the public service. “We are still relying on a catch-up effect until the end of the year. Unsupervised and undecided school leavers still have every chance of finding a suitable training position, ”says Heinz optimistically.

However, he also states: "After numerous apprenticeships in the region had already remained unfilled last year, some companies have given up the active search for trainees." Perspective very difficult anyway. "Even those who offer apprenticeship positions sometimes have major problems finding applicants at all," says Heinz.

According to Reil, the top five IHK apprenticeships are: salespeople, salespeople in retail, salespeople for freight forwarding and logistics services, specialists for warehouse logistics and salespeople for office management.

There are more than 40 IHK professions in the district in which young people are training.

177 companies belonging to the Chamber of Industry and Commerce are currently training here.

They represent around 60 percent of all apprenticeships.

Vacant apprenticeships with an immediate start of training can still be found at www.ihk-lehrstellenboerse.de.
