Munich - two become three!
In the past, it was the rule for two candidates for chancellor to fight each other in several TV duels in the weeks leading up to the Bundestag election, but this year's election is something special. Armin Laschet will appear for the first time with Annalena Baerbock (The Greens) (CDU) and Olaf Scholz (SPD) three candidates against each other in TV rounds.
Their goal: to use the TV stage to pull undecided voters to the side of their party in the last few meters before the general election.

Federal election 2021: TV-Triell on August 29th with Baerbock, Laschet and Scholz
On Sunday, August 29, 2021, the three candidates for chancellor met on RTL and n-tv.
The program started at 8:15 p.m.
Pinar Atalay and Peter Kloeppel took over the moderation.
There was already a TV round of Baerbock, Laschet and Scholz on WDR on May 20th of this year - the triell on Sunday was officially the second meeting of the three opponents fighting for the Chancellery.
However, the situation last May was obviously very different from the situation around four weeks before the general election.
The hot phase of the election campaign has long since begun, and according to surveys, the race for the three candidates is closer than at least one of the three contestants had hoped.
TV-Triell on September 12th: Chancellor candidates meet again two weeks before the federal election
The next TV round will take place on September 12, 2021 on public television.
ARD and ZDF broadcast the TV trio between Baerbock, Laschet and Scholz live for a full 90 minutes from 8.15 p.m.
Maybrit Illner (ZDF) and the ARD editor-in-chief Oliver Köhr will lead through the show.
Federal election 2021: "Four-way battle" of the top candidates on September 13th
ARD and ZDF give the top candidates Janine Wissler (Die Linke), Christian Lindner (FDP), Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) and Alice Weidel (AfD) the opportunity to present their parties' positions just one day after the TV triumph.
Ellen Ehni (WDR) and Christian Nitsche (BR) will moderate from 8.15 p.m.
The last TV triall will take place on September 19 - seven days before the federal election in 2021
The final meeting of the three candidates for chancellor is scheduled a week before the big election.
The TV trio will be broadcast on ProSieben, Sat.1 and Kabel 1 at prime time from 8.15 p.m.
Former “Tagesschau” spokeswoman Linda Zervakis (now ProSieben) and Claudia von Brauchitsch (Sat.1) will moderate.
Federal election 2021: top candidates will meet on September 19th
A few days before the federal election, there is finally the final round of the top candidates in the first and ZDF.
The two heads of the capital city studios Tina Hassel (ARD) and Theo Koll (ZDF) will guide you through the program from 10 p.m.
Baerbock and Scholz visit ProSieben - why doesn't Laschet take part?
In addition to the trials, there will also be individual appearances by the three candidates for chancellor, for example on September 1 and September 15 at ProSieben.
Then namely on the one hand the Green candidate Baerbock (September 1) and on the other hand SPD chancellor candidate Scholz (September 15) in the context of the ProSieben federal election show.
Laschet did not want to participate in this format.
