In a video posted on social networks this Thursday morning, while visiting a Marseille school for the start of the school year, Emmanuel Macron spoke to students, parents and teachers on this day back from school.

New for this new school year: middle and high schools will therefore contribute to the vaccination campaign, open only to those over 12 years old.

The government plans to send “mobile teams” to some schools and to send groups of volunteer students to vaccination centers.

About 60% of adolescents and 89% of teachers are vaccinated in France, according to Jean-Michel Blanquer.

The minister, who wants to keep the establishments open as much as possible, was also booed during the presidential trip to a school in Marseille.

In 2020-2021, establishments were closed for three weeks in April, including two weeks of vacation.

"It is possible that there is an increase in contamination," warned Mr. Blanquer, which could lead to a hardening of the sanitary protocol in schools, with a stricter limitation of the mixing of pupils or the establishment of a gauge limiting the number of people present in class, on a local or national scale.

Already, in the West Indies and in the red zones of Guyana, the re-entry has been postponed from September 2 to 13 because of the "serious" health situation there.
