During her campaign appearance as part of the 2021 federal election, Annalena Baerbock (Greens) answered questions from the moderator Louis Klamroth and the audience on Wednesday evening (September 1st, 2021) in the “Bundestag election show” on the private TV broadcaster Pro7.
On the subject of tax fraud, she could imagine a nationwide and anonymous reporting platform for investigating tax fraud.
"We have to create places where you can also report when you know that there is severe tax fraud," said Baerbock.
This system is used in Baden-Wuerttemberg and "was also the job of the Federal Minister of Finance", Baerbock continued.
Baerbock on Pro7: "The next federal government should also introduce that."
Such a portal promotes denunciation, so the criticism of the CDU, FDP, and AfD of this proposal.
Baerbock defended her cause.
Germany has a "big problem" in the area of tax fraud and money laundering.
However, she rejected the comparison with the State Security Service of the GDR (Stasi): "From my point of view, that mocks all those who lived under a dictatorship."
