The tripartite political summit between Egyptian President al-Sisi, Jordanian King Abdullah II and Palestinian Authority Chairman Abu Mazen began in Cairo today (Thursday).

Even before the summit, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi met with PA Chairman Abu Mazen and stressed his commitment to the Palestinian issue. A statement from the PLO embassy in Cairo said: "Palestinian and in coordination with the Palestinian brothers, in order to help the Palestinian people regain their legitimate rights in accordance with international law."
It was also noted that al-Sisi emphasized the importance of all efforts in the near future to support the Palestinian position on the political series, and to push for the resumption of political negotiations, in addition to establishing a hudna between the Israeli and Palestinian sides. Abu Mazen updated the Egyptian president on the latest political developments, the internal Palestinian situation and recent events in the territories.
He also expressed his appreciation for Egypt's efforts, its support for the issue and its historic role in the issue, with a view to reaching a just and comprehensive solution to the issue.
He mentioned Egypt's role in the ceasefire mediation talks in the Gaza Strip and al-Sisi's rehabilitation initiative.
The chairman of the PA agreed during the meeting to continue the consultation and coordination with Egypt in view of the issues of common importance.
Towards the Triple Summit, King Abdullah set out for Cairo.
According to reports, the summit is coming in order to "create the right atmosphere" for the resumption of negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians.
