From October the clubs in Munich will be allowed to reopen.

The operators are still not looking forward to it.

Too many questions remain open.

Munich - The news has hit: Clubs and discos will be allowed to reopen from October *.

The curfew (1 a.m.) for the catering industry, which was still in force until now, will also be abolished.

The easing of the corona rules for nightlife announced by Prime Minister Söder provide hope in the battered industry.

After all, clubs were closed for a full 18 months.

(Our Munich newsletter informs you about all developments and results from the Isar metropolis about the upcoming federal election - and of course about all other important stories from Munich.)

Munich: Some clubs closed during the corona pandemic

And not all of them made it through the crisis.

Like the Folks Club at Sendlinger Tor, for example, or the Cord Club on Sonnenstrasse.

The new owners there: The gastro crew around Robert Benke, also known from the wooden crane on Georgenstrasse or the Bier & Weingarten on the Praterinsel.

The former Café Cord has already reopened as Café Kranich, but what about the club?

“We use the month to get everything ready,” says co-operator Robert Benke.

The base is in place, a few screws still have to be turned.

After all, the opening perspective for October would come surprisingly quickly.

At least light after the dark months in Munich's nightlife.

How are Munich club operators preparing for the new start?

The

tz

has demanded.

The operator of the cult club Harry Klein

knew even before Söder's opening plans that it would not go on.

The reason here is not Corona.

Mostly joy among the Munich club owners

Anticipation in P1, Franz Rauch:

We are very happy that we can open.

Of course you have to see when that will be exactly, whether on October 1st or October 31st, that is not yet certain.

Also the other rules that will then apply.

But we will implement the specifications that will then be in place.

One or the other hurdle will certainly come, but hurdles are there to be overcome.

We at P1 see this positively through and through.

Open questions at Pacha, Tom Hilner:

First and foremost, we are happy that there is light at the end of the tunnel. But questions remained: What is the exact date? What happens when the hospital traffic light turns red or yellow? What about capacity constraints? Ventilation systems are also an issue: Which ventilation concepts do we need? And in the nightlife, like the hotel and catering industry, we need tourists in Munich *. Hopefully they'll come back. But on the whole, it's the right step at first.

Concerns in the Sweet Club, Alexander Spierer: It's great

that we finally have a perspective. But I have concerns. If we are not allowed to drive at full capacity, we will not open because it makes no economic sense. Not even when people have to keep their distance and wear a mask. We have tightened the 3G rule, only PCR tests apply - they are expensive. I find that difficult for those who cannot be vaccinated. I would like political support to do so. Basically, I'm happy - but the specifications must be economically and technically feasible.

Waiting in the stream, Frank Bergmeyer:

I have to wait and see how everything is regulated. I don't see any club nights with limited capacity where masked people dance. These are not club evenings as we imagine them to be. It's difficult: with the 3G rule, people only come in with a PCR test, which costs from October. The 2G rule is bitter for anyone who is not vaccinated. On the one hand you want it to continue, on the other hand you don't want to exclude anyone, that's important to me. The easing is going in a good direction, but I'm still unsure what exactly everything will look like then.
