Police last night (Thursday) arrested a 70-year-old Tel Aviv resident on suspicion of committing sexual offenses with his minor granddaughter, under the age of 14. The investigation was opened upon receipt of the report, according to which there is a suspicion that he also committed indecent acts, apparently over several years.
According to the suspicions, the grandfather had a sexual relationship with the minor granddaughter, among other things through a "secret" phone he purchased for her.
In light of the findings of the investigation, the police arrested the suspect last night, and he was imprisoned, when the police intend to bring him to the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court this morning, with a request to extend his detention.
Meanwhile, Israeli police arrested a 38-year-old man last night on suspicion of indecent assault and assaulting a minor in the city of Ashkelon.
Last week, the police received a report from an 11-year-old minor's parents that while the girl was walking on Johannesburg Street in Ashkelon with her younger brother (about 3 years old), a man emerged from behind him with several dogs, put a hand over her mouth and dragged her into the bushes.
Police investigators began an intensive investigation, gathering findings and criminal evidence - which led to the identification of the suspect, a 38-year-old resident of Kiryat Malachi.
Tonight, police raided the suspect's home and arrested him for questioning.
The dogs were located in his home, which were taken to a local veterinarian.
In addition, mobile devices and a safe were seized, which were taken for further investigation.
Today, the suspect will be brought before the Magistrate's Court with a request to extend his detention.
